Hawks record this week: 2-2 Season Record: 30-16, percentage points behind the Magic for second in the Southeast Division.
Game Results this Week:
Hawks 102 Rockets 95
Spurs 105 Hawks 90
Hawks 100 Celtics 91
Magic 104 Hawks 86
It was interesting week for the Hawks despite only having a 2-2 record. The week began with a gritty road win over the Houston Rockets. That win broke a 10 year losing streak in Houston and guaranteed the Hawks a winning record in the state of Texas on the year having already defeated the Mavericks in Dallas. Next up was a blow out loss to the Spurs [...]

As much as the Celtics looked like the team that was scratching just to stay in the game on Friday night the Hawks were every bit as much that team Saturday against the Magic. Ultimately the Hawks succumbed to the pressure and fell in the second half to the Magic losing 104-86. The Magic have now beaten the Hawks 6 straight times dating back to last season. As much as the Hawks have had the Celtics number, they have had no answers for Dwight Howard and the Magic.
The Magic offer a multitude of match up issues for the Hawks. While [...]

For the 2009 -2010 NBA regular season the Hawks have passed all of the tests when it comes to the Celtics. This rivalry (yes it is a rivalry no matter what our friends in green say) started two seasons ago in the first round of the playoffs when the young Hawks took the eventual NBA champs to 7 games. Back then the Hawks had no shot to win on the road, not a chance. This season the transition has been completed. All the Hawks need is a possible post season match up and victory to cement it. These Celtics are [...]

The Hawks and Celtics will close out there 2010 regular season series tonight at Phillips Arena in Atlanta. Both teams are coming off of a loss as the Hawks were pretty much beaten up by the Spurs in San Antonio on Wednesday and the Celtics collapsed last night against the Magic blowing a 16 point lead and losing on a game winning lay up by Rashard Lewis. Recaps of that game are available courtesy of Fansided.com’s own Celtics blog Hardwood Houdini and Orlando Magic blog Howard the Dunk .
The Celtics come into Atlanta tonight reeling a little bit winners in [...]

Joe Johnson will be making his 4th consecutive appearance in the NBA All Star game this year becoming the first Atlanta Hawk to go to 4 straight since Dekembe Mutombo. We as fans should not be surprised. Often times this season Hawk fans have been critical of Joe and I have found myself questioning some of his shot selection and decision making. Make no mistake that Joe Johnson is well respected around the NBA. Probably more so than he is in Atlanta. He is probably the type of talent that we won’t realize how good he is until he is [...]

Over all last night was a stinker for the Hawks. They really came into this game against a determined opponent (Spurs had lost 3 in a row) who happened to have a hall of fame coach (Gregg Popovich), and a hall of fame player (Tim Duncan). Popovich really had his team prepared. The Spurs seized control of this one in the first quarter outscoring the Hawks 36-21 and went on to win by that same 15 point margin. I wondered in the preview how the Hawks would be able to contain Spurs guard Tony Parker and he and Tim Duncan [...]

The Hawks finish up their Texas two step in San Antonio in a match up with the Spurs. The Hawks come into the game fresh off a 102-95 victory over the Rockets. The Spurs on the other hand were defeated by the Chicago Bulls 98-93 in San Antonio. I think the Hawks can give the Spurs a lot of problems with their athleticism and pushing the offensive pace will be key. The Spurs have been starting Tim Duncan at Center as of late and playing him along side DeJuan Blair and I like that interior match up for the Hawks [...]

The Hawks used a smothering defensive effort and an efficient scoring offense to end a 10 year losing streak in Houston. (Wow 10 years?) This was exactly how the Hawks needed to start a very difficult week by beating a quality Western Conference team on the road. After trailing early the team was able to clamp down in the 2nd quarter and seize control of the game. When the Hawks are committed on the defensive end they are capable of playing with anyone in the NBA.
Josh Smith had 22 points and 10 rebounds to go along with 4 blocked shots. [...]

Season Series: The Hawks defeated the Rockets 105-103 at Phillips Arena on Nov 20th
Last Game: The Hawks defeated the Bobcats 103-89 this past Friday, The Rockets lost at home to Chicago 104-97 on Saturday.
Measuring stick week for the Hawks begins tonight in Houston. The Hawks haven’t seen much success in Houston as they have lost their last 10 games against the Rockets on the road. The Rockets have been a feel good roll the entire season and it is a testament to Coach Rick Adelman and GM Daryl Morey. Most people figured with Yao Ming lost to injury that this [...]

Hawks record this week: 2-1, Season Record 28-14, percentage points ahead of Orlando for 1st place in the Southeast Division.
Game results this week:
Thunder 94 Hawks 91
Hawks 108 Kings 97
Hawks 103 Bobcats 89
The Hawks this week finish out their home stand with a 4-1 record and were able to maintain their slim lead over the Magic in the Southeast Division. The highlight of the week was knocking off Charlotte in which they came in winners of 6 games in a row and 9 of their last 10 in rather easy fashion. This Hawks team can compete at a very high level [...]
