What does the Mario West signing mean?

In the grand scheme of things not a lot. We could see him in a suit the whole 10 days but I suspect we will get to see a cameo appearance during this upcoming home stand. Mario probably won’t dress against teams with a strong inside presence because Coach Woodson will probably opt to have both Jason Collins and Randolph Morris on the bench. Coach Woodson has always loved West’s tenacity even rewarding him a few minutes as a starter in the past although I wouldn’t look for that scenario this time around.

I don’t know how exactly I feel about this signing. If not for Mario having an escalating salary due to this being his third season in the NBA, I believe he would have made the team out of training camp. I mean what is not to like about Mario? He works hard and is a tireless competitor. He always gives maximum effort while on the floor, he just has no offensive game when it comes to the NBA. He is well liked by the other Hawks players and management so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him stick past the 10 day contract. He always has seemed to be a positive locker room influence. Welcome back Mario!
