The week for the Hawks consisted of a road loss in Oklahoma City and two bounce back wins at home against the Clippers and the Bulls. The Hawks maintained their pace with the rest of the Eastern Conference front runners and pending the outcome of Sunday’s Magic vs Celtics game will find themselves in third place in the Eastern Conference by Monday morning. While the Hawks have had a tough go of it against the Magic, it is going to be interesting to see if the Celtics can maintain this current pace that they are on. It appears that they are getting healthier as Daniels and Pierce are game time decisions today but it seems more and more questions pop up each and everyday.

The Hawks will begin the upcoming week on Tuesday in Memphis and will head into the All Star Break with a game in Miami on Wednesday.

Soaring Down South Player of the Week

Joe Johnson was magnificent this week and was an easy selection for Soaring Down South’s player of the week award. Over his last 5 games Joe is averaging 27 points per game on 50% shooting. He shot the Hawks back into the game against Oklahoma City scoring 37 points and completed a comeback win against the Clippers with 34. He got to the line with more regularity this week and it showed in his statistics. Joe is fun to watch when he is letting the game come to him and making the required basketball plays. He showed once again this week how hard it is to single cover him.
