Game Thoughts

After two thrilling overtime victories at Phillips Arena the Hawks hit the road and travel to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks in what could be a possible first round match up. The Bucks come in like the Hawks having won two in a row and eight of their last ten games. They have taken control of the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference and now have a three game lead over the Miami Heat.

I am not sure what the Hawks will have left in the tank for tonight’s game. Most all of the starters played 40+ minutes last night led by Joe Johnson’s 46. Everyone of those minutes was needed to secure last night’s victory over the Spurs. It will be something to watch for and I expect Coach Woodson to try and use his bench extensively especially early in the game.

The last two victories have had a playoff feel to them and I expect tonight to be no different. If the Hawks and the Bucks do in fact meet in the first round then they will be very familiar with each other. Due to a scheduling quirk the two teams did not meet this season until February 28th. In addition to tonight’s game they will play again on April 12th.
