Hawks News Roundup

Toronto Raptors at Atlanta Hawks

Bret over at Hoopinion makes us jealous with his venture into providing video breakdowns. In the video he shows essentially everything that went right in the first half and what went wrong in the second. Its a great piece, be sure and check it out.

Michael Cunningham at the AJC.com Hawks Blog posted an excellent interview with the Atlanta Spirit’s Michael Gearon Jr. It is an excellent read and touches on a variety of topics including the two biggest off season questions in will the Hawk resign Mike Woodson and Joe Johnson?

On Coach Mike Woodson’s performance:

“He’s done a good job. Getting the third seed, 53 wins, each year we keep getting better and better—regular season, he has done a tremendous job. But us a franchise, from the ownership down, we judge ourselves in the playoffs. It’s not just the regular season, its’ winning championships and we feel we have the right core here, culturally—coach, GM, players—and that’s what we are trying to do.”

On bringing back Joe Johnson

“That’s always been the goal. Last summer, we committed to doing it back then. We think Joe likes it here. We like Joe here. We fought hard to get Joe here, as everyone knows. He’s a four-time All-Star. He’s been the face of this franchise and the team has been built around Joe.”

Good stuff from Gearon. Go check out the article as there is other comments about the Hawks offense and General Manager Rick Sund.
