Hawks and Bucks Game 2 Preview

Milwaukee Bucks at Atlanta Hawks

Atlanta – The Hawks will look to put the Bucks in a deep 2-0 hole when the series resumes tonight at Phillips Arena. The Hawks captured game one behind a great crowd and a great start to the game. Not a lot changes for tonight’s game from the Hawks perspective. They will look to exploit the mis-matches that are more than plentiful and they will try and use their athleticism on the defensive end to make things hard for the Bucks. Rebounding is another high priority and I would be willing to bet that if the Hawks lose a game in this series it will be one that they are out rebounded in.

I think it is also worth mentioning that a lot has been made about the Bucks storming back in the second half of game one. I even expected it coming out of halftime. Now true I don’t like seeing a twenty point lead turn into a ten point lead without a time out being called. Still the Hawks answered every time the Bucks got close. Not saying that the Bucks shouldn’t feel that they can compete because they competed the entire season. I didn’t feel that was even a question coming in.

Ironically the Hawks weren’t the only team on Saturday that built a twenty two point lead and saw it evaporate down to seven in the fourth quarter. The Cavaliers did the same exact thing. Yet I don’t hear anyone saying the Bulls have a chance in that series. I would also say their is a lot bigger gap in terms of talent between the Cavs and Bulls than their is between the Hawks and Bucks. Yet the media is willing to overlook the Cavs blowing a lead but not the Hawks. I was surprised that the Hawks could build a twenty two point lead against the Bucks.

The point I want to make is that this is the NBA Playoffs, how many blowouts do you really see? These are professionals and you had to know that the Hawks would relax and the Bucks wouldn’t. A Scott Skiles team is not going to quit. The Hawks can’t make a habit out of blowing leads like that in the playoffs but I find it funny at how it is a non issue in Cleveland but is the main storyline in the Atlanta-Milwaukee series. Had the Hawks lost the game then there would have been a story.
