Avery Johnson Rumors Heating Up?

Perhaps not completely except for the fact that some of his other options are drying up. Michael Cunningham of the AJC is reporting that representatives for Johnson had continued to talk with the Hawks ever since Johnson had a face to face meeting with the team.

Teams that Johnson was rumored to be in the running for have started to look at other options. The Philadelphia 76ers today hired current broadcaster Doug Collins as their new head coach. Also the New Orleans Hornets appear to be focusing on other candidates after Johnson allegedly wanted some front office control with the team.

If front office control is truly important to Johnson then you have to think that he and the Hawks won’t be a good fit. Rick Sund appears to be in good standing with the club. However, it is good that talks are still ongoing between Johnson and the Club as both parties seem to have some mutual interest. At this point it appears the Hawks are keeping all of their options open as they are supposed to sit down with Mavericks assistant coach Dwane Casey sometime this weekend at the Chicago Pre Draft Camp.
