Mock Draft Database

I thought it would be interesting to see who the major draft sites have projected to the Hawks and who the pick will actually be after the night is over.  The comments on each player are courtsy of Draft Express.

Draft Express – Dominique Jones, SG, South Florida – Big combo guard with excellent size, length, and strength.  Aggressive slasher who gets to the free throw line at a great rate.  Capable of creating shots for both himself and others.  Outstanding man to man defender thanks to his physical tools and his toughness.  Must improve perimeter shooting range and cut down on turnovers.

Ridiculous Upside — Eric Bledsoe, PG, Kentucky – Super athletic freshman with a terrific body and wingspan.  Fits the mold of an NBA point guard from a physical standpoint and then some.  Limited offensive player with average ball handling, playmaking, and perimeter shooting skills.  Lacks experience running the point and is extremely turnover prone.  Has big upside but is likely a ways away from contributing.

Hoops Addict — Elliot Williams, SG, Memphis – Super athletic combo guard with the type of scoring instincts and shot creating ability scouts crave in the NBA today.  Improved perimeter shooter.  Lefty who struggles operating with his off hand and struggles to finish around the basket at times.  Shows solid potential defensively.  Not a finished product, but high character and excellent physical tools give him nice upside.

Sports Illustrated — Jordan Crawford, SG, Xavier – Crawford is a good finisher and can find other players once he is in the lane.  He is an adept scorer, one of the NCAA’s best.  There are some questions pertaining to Crawford’s ball dominating style and unselfishness. — Hassan Whiteside, C, Marshall – Raw young big man with exceptional rare physical tools.  Has great size, solid athleticism, and freakishly long arms.  Led the NCAA in shot blocking as a freshman.  Very productive rebounder.  Shows intriguing skills offensively, both facing and with his back to the basket.  Feel for the game and fundamentals leave a lot to be desired.  Poor passer whose thin frame makes him a project on both ends of the floor.  Has serious off the court red flags that he must overcome.

Hoopsworld — Devin Ebanks, SF, West Virginia – none

Hoops Doctors — Devin Ebanks, SF, West Virginia – none

Draft Depot — Dominique Jones, SG, South Florida – see above

As you can see, the picks are all over the board.  We have two for Dominique Jones, two for Devin Ebanks, one for Jordan Crawford, one for Hassan Whiteside, one for Elliot Williams, and one for Eric Bledsoe.
