Hawks 3-0 After 99-94 Win Over Wizards
The Atlanta Hawks won their home opener over the Washington Wizards last night. This win runs their record to 3-0 and has a lot of Hawks fans excited. At the risk of sounding like a prude though, despite these wins, I hope Larry Drew spends the next two days looking at the film and realizing the mistakes he is making as a first year head coach that are going to end up costing this team down the road. I touched on this after the 76ers game, but playing Mike Bibby, Jamal Crawford, and Joe Johnson heavy minutes at the same [...]
Hawks Defeat 76ers 104-101 To Go 2-0
This was a game that started well and looked like a potential blow out win through three quarters. It became very ugly in the fourth quarter. The Hawks did not finish this game strong but were able to hold on for the win to improve their record to 2-0. A win is a win, but both the team and Larry Drew need to look at this game and learn from the mistakes made. In the first game, Larry Drew seemed like a breath of fresh air when compared to Mike Woodson from the previous years. The Hawks were actually running [...]
Hawks Win Season Opener 119-104 Over Grizzlies
Well, Larry Drew got the kind of performance out of his team that he was hoping to get in the Hawks regular season opener against the Memphis Grizzlies. Offensively, the team had very good ball movement overall and dished out 20 assists in this game while shooting over 52% from the floor. Joe Johnson lead the way with 22 points on a poor shooting night for him, but he also dished out 7 assists and shot 11 free throws, which is very unusual for the Joe Johnson we typically see. Mike Bibby, whom I all but declared a corpse of [...]
Al Horford’s Contract Extension; Mike Bibby Starting
I’m trying to catch up on the things that have been going on with the Hawks over the past month. I apoligize to the readers of this blog that I haven’t been able to update over the past month. Al Horford’s contract extension is apparently coming down to the wire. This report says that if a deal isn’t done at the close of business next Monday, Al will become a restricted free agent next offseason. I would highly recommend that the Hawks get this deal done. They Hawks ownership and management may think Joe Johnson is the key to the team, [...]
