Happy 32nd birthday to Damien Wilkins!
He only played 52 games (60 games when counting playoffs) in one season for the Hawks, but I figured it’s still nice to give him a shout-out, especially since we (Soaring Down South) didn’t even acknowledge that he signed with a different team this off-season.
So without further ado, here is my ode to Damien Wilkins.
Here is my ode to the one and only
backup small forward that always defended so closely
We didn’t see much of him in our televisions
I am talking about Nique’s nephew, Damien Wilkins.
He didn’t play much in a Hawks uni
But when he did, he was not a weenie;
He always provided good energy
especially when Marvin played terribly.
We don’t know how much Damien would have contributed
He was always on the bench, but should have been on the floor instead
The one thing we do know, is that he’s certainly not bitter
He’s actually nice, especially on his Twitter.
Damien Wilkins had the support of the fans
Everyone thought he would be in the Hawks’ plans
But sadly he was not, as the team signed T-Mac
and a 37 year old veteran, by the name of Jerry “Stack”.
Damien is not with the Hawks anymore
But his contributions here will not be ignored
What he gave the Hawks should be given praise
And we wish Damien well… wherever he plays.
