Current Records/Streak & Hot, Lukewarm, or Cold:
Records: The Atlanta Hawks are (28-20) and the Washington Wizards are (11-35).
Streak: The Hawks are on a 2 game win streak, and the Wizards are on a 1 game losing streak.
Away/Home: The Hawks are (13-13) on the road, and the Wizards are (6-17) at home.
Against .500+ teams: The Wizards only post a record of (2-25) against winning teams this season. 2nd worst record in the NBA.
Against non-winning teams: The Atlanta Hawks post an impressive record of (20-4) against non-winning teams this season.
Atlanta Hawks- Lukewarm. Not cold. Not hot. Yes, they are on a 2 game winning streak, but the two wins have come in a very unconvincing way.
Washington Wizards- Warm. Yes, they are on a 1 game losing streak, but they only lost by 2 against a tough Indiana Pacers team. Before that game, they crushed the Nets by 19 points.
Season/Past Season Series:
This is the third and last overall meeting between the two teams, and the first and last meeting in Washington. The Hawks currently lead the season series 2-0.
In the first two games, the Hawks beaten the Wizards by an average margin of 16 points.
The Hawks have won the last 13 out of the last 14 meetings between the two teams. Their only lost that spanned for four seasons, came last season on the road, when the Wizards blew out the Hawks 115-83.
3 Things I’m Looking Out For:
- John Wall. Always a player to watch out for whenever you face the Wizards. As we’ve seen recently, quick point guards have given the Hawks trouble, and John Wall is the definition of speed. The Hawks really have to get back on defense and make sure Wall doesn’t get easy looks in the paint. If the Hawks can limit his productivity and make him inefficient tonight, it’s hard to see the Hawks lose this one.
- Fatigue & rotation. With so many injuries, Larry Drew has really been forced to play his starters a lot of minutes recently. However, with this game being the second game of a back-to-back-to-back, will Larry Drew continue to ride the starters (especially Josh Smith) and give them heavy minutes? Zaza Pachulia and Vladimir Radmanovic may come back tonight, so that might help.
- Josh Smith. Josh Smith has been filling up the stat sheet as of late. In the past two games, Josh Smith is averaging 31 points and 14.5 rebounds. Beast numbers. He hasn’t been shooting it well, but his impact can’t be questioned. Josh Smith is also averaging 23.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.5 blocks in the month of March. What kind of monster numbers will he put up tonight? I would like to think around a 20/12/5/2/2 stat-line tonight, maybe?
