According to Chad Ford’s latest NBA Mock Draft that was posted earlier today on ESPN.com, the Atlanta Hawks will be taking former Red Storm swingman Moe Harkless of St. Johns University with the No. 23 overall selection in the 2012 NBA draft.
Ford had the Hawks taking Royce White of Iowa State is his previous mock draft (version 8.1), but White surprisingly canceled all of his remaining pre-draft workouts on Wednesday night, including his Friday workout with Atlanta after rumors spread that he was contacted by an unspecified team and was given a “draft day promise” that he will be selected in the first round in the upcoming NBA Draft. That rumored team is thought to be the Boston Celtics with their No. 21 (or No. 22) overall pick.
With White now essentially off the board, Ford updated his mock and currently has the Hawks selecting St. John’s forward Moe Harkless with the 23rd overall pick.
Here’s how Harkless measures out:

ESPN.com Analysis: Long and athletic, Harkless can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. Atlanta is getting a value pick here. This is likely Harkless’ floor; he could go as high as the late lottery.
