Atlanta Hawks restricted free agent Ivan Johnson has accepted the team’s qualifying offer, reports Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com. By signing the deal, Johnson will earn $962,195 this season and he will be a restricted free agent next summer.
Johnson was one of the top players off the bench for the Hawks last year and will add depth moving forward to Atlanta’s relatively small front court.
The 28-yr old forward averaged 6.4 points and 4.1 rebounds as a rookie last season with a player efficiency rating (PER) of 14.9.
The Oregon native wasn’t able to get an offer from another team in the off-season and finally signed the Hawks’ deal assuring he’ll be in Atlanta for at least one more season. If he’s able to match last years production in this years campaign however, he might have a few teams knocking at his door by the time next summer roles around.
