The Atlanta Hawks requested waivers on Jordan Williams earlier this week, cutting him from the roster.
Williams, who was sent over via trade from the Brooklyn Nets as part of the Joe Johnson deal, played on the Hawks’ 2012 Summer League team, averaging 1 point and 2 rebounds per game. Williams played just 9 total minutes in two summer league games.
The 6-foot-10 power forward out of Maryland averaged 4.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game last season on the Nets, but came on strong in April when he put up two double-doubles.
With Williams off the roster, Atlanta now has 13 of 15 roster spots filled. Keith Benson, Damion James, and James Anderson seem to be the leading three candidates for the two remaining spots.
