Atlanta Hawks star forward Josh Smith reportedly sprained his ankle in the season opener against the Houston Rockets on Friday, his exact return is unknown.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “Coach Larry Drew said he noticed Smith limping during Friday’s season-opener against the Rockets,” and as a result, Smith missed the following game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday.
“[Smith's ankle] was a little sore (Saturday),” Drew said. “I know he got it treated. We made the decision to leave him back [in Atlanta] and get it treated. Our focus was to get him ready for Wednesday’s game.”
The Hawks upset the Thunder 104-95 on Sunday, offseason acquisition Anthony Tolliver started in Smith’s place.
Next up, Atlanta will host the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, Nov. 8. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM (ET).
