Josh Smith might be sidelined Wednesday night against the Indiana Pacers because of his sprained right ankle.
Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Smith “did not practice Monday but worked on the side with the team’s training staff. [Larry] Drew said Smith did some shooting. Drew did not know whether Smith could return for Wednesday’s home game against the Pacers, calling the forward day-to-day.”
Smoove injured his ankle in the season-opener at home on Friday against the Houston Rockets. He played a total of 42 minutes in the game, including the entire 12 minutes of the final quarter.
Two days later against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Atlanta played without Smith and surprisingly pulled out a 104-95 upset victory over the defending Western Conference champions.
If Smith isn’t ready to return Wednesday, off-season acquisition Anthony Tolliver could be in line to make his second straight start after replacing Smith on Sunday in OKC.
