Game Preview:

The Atlanta Hawks start a four game roadtrip in Los Angeles against the Clippers. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin have revived the franchise in the last two years as they look to compete against the media darling Los Angeles Lakers. Many consider them just on the outside of title contention but in the National Basketball Association, crazier things have happened. Josh Smith looks to play his first road game of his career in the Staples Center after missing the trip to Oklahoma City last Sunday.

Last Matchup: (4/24/12) HAWKS 109, CLIPPERS 102 – PHILIPS ARENA – ATLANTA, GA

Joe Johnson buried a 35 footer in front of the bench and lead a solid win over the Clippers in the penultimate game of the 2011-12 season for the Atlanta Hawks.

Blake Griffin had 39 points on 17-23 shooting and 8 rebounds and Chris Paul had 34 points and 8 assists but the supporting cast could not contribute enough to eek out a win in Atlanta.

Josh Smith had a double-double and Jeff Teague scored 21 points.

The Hawks took a 13 point lead early in the fourth quarter but the Clippers rallied late but Joe Johnson broke their backs with his improbably shot late in fourth.
