Atlanta Hawks Josh Smith, left, enjoys a laugh with new teammate Lou Williams, who played at South Gwinnett High School, in the final minutes of a 92-79 victory over the Miami Heat in the exhibition opener at Philips Arena in Atlanta on Sunday , Oct. 7, 2012. CURTIS COMPTON / [email protected]
According to a tweet courtesy of The AJC’s Hawks beat writer Chris Vivlamore, Josh Smith and Lou Williams are sick and uncertain for Monday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Williams has been pretty much non-existent the past couple games so it might be wise to give him a night off; however, Smith will be missed heavily if he can’t suit up. Portland’s front-court comprised of LaMarcus Aldridge, J.J. Hickson, and Nicolas Batum pose a big threat to Atlanta’s undersized big’s — especially if Smith’s inactive.
If both Smoove & Lou can’t go, look for Anthony Morrow to fill-in for Williams off the bench and Anthony Tolliver to start in place of Smith.
