Zaza Pachulia knocked down a buzz beater from 17ft to end the half with the Atlanta Hawks trailing the hosting Philadelphia 76ers 51-45.
Atlanta was down 30-20 with just 1:14 left in the first quarter and came back in the second period to level the score at 32-32. That didn’t last long, however, as the 76ers scored a few quick baskets to go up 43-36 with 4:30 remaining before the half. The Hawks tied the game once again, this time at 43-43, with 2:47 remaining in the half, but Philadelphia went on a 10-4 spurt in the closing minutes to take a six point advantage in the locker room.
Pachulia has been great in the first 24 minutes, scoring nine points and grabbing seven rebounds, four of which are offensive. Josh Smith leads the Hawks with 13 points after two quarters of play. Al Horford is struggling to find his shot as he’s just 1-of-6 from the field with only three points. Kyle Korver (8), Jeff Teague (5), Ivan Johnson (4), and Lou Williams (3) have also contributed to the score board.
Thaddeus Young is leading the 76ers at the half with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting overall. Evan Turner is having a solid game thus far with nine points, four assists, and three rebounds in 20 minutes of action. Veteran Jason Richardson is shooting 50% from both inside and outside the arc with eight points, while dishing out an eye-popping seven assists in just 14 minutes of play. Jrue Holiday (7), Dorell Wright (6), Spencer Hawes (5), Lavoy Allen (4), and Nick Young (2) have also got their feet wet.
The Hawks are shooting 44.2% as a team, compared to Philly’s 53.7% first half mark.
