Houston dismantled Atlanta in the second quarter outscoring the Hawks 38-19 and currently lead 64-46 at halftime.
The Rockets shot 67% in the second period and post a .600 shooting percentage overall. The Hawks meanwhile are struggling from the field shooting a sub par 40%.
Josh Smith leads Atlanta with 14 points and five rebounds at the half, while teammate Al Horford has 10 points and seven boards thus far. No other Hawks is in double-figures.
Houston is led by their back court duo of Jeremy Lin and James Harden who have combined for 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting. Rockets center Omer Asik has an amazing 12 rebounds in just 16 minutes of action to go along with five points and one blocked shot at halftime.
Houston is killing Atlanta’s interior defense with 26 points in the paint, 14 of which came via the fast break. The Hawks need to limit their long shot attempts and sprint back on defense in order to slow down the rolling Rockets.
