The Atlanta Hawks battled back from a 15-point deficit to topple the visiting Utah Jazz 103-95 on Friday night, snapping a four-game losing streak.
Hawks off-season acquisition Devin Harris scored a season-high 24 points against his former team and was one of six Atlanta players to score in double-figures.
Harris played a team-high 35 minutes and almost posted a perfect shooting percentage, going 7-of-8 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. Josh Smith also played 35 minutes, achieving a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while adding six assists. Al Horford had a quiet night going 6-of-9 from the field for 12 points to go along with three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal. Remaining starters Jeff Teague (7) and Kyle Korver (3) combined for 10 points on 3-of-10 shooting.
Atlanta’s bench provided a huge lift as Lou Williams (14), Ivan Johnson (13), Zaza Pachulia (12) and John Jenkins (3) combined for 42 points. Johnson had the biggest impact for the reserves shooting 6-of-10 overall and grabbing seven rebounds in 26 minutes of action.
Utah was led by their three-headed monster of Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap and Randy Foye. Jefferson posted a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds, Millsap achieved the same feat with 20 points and 13 boards, and Foye tallied 25 points while draining six 3-pointers (both game-high’s). Backup swingman Gordon Hayward (12) was also in double-figures.
Utah Jazz (19-19) continue their road trip and will play the Detroit Pistons (14-23) on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 7:30 PM (ET).
Atlanta Hawks (21-14) go on the road to play the Washington Wizards (5-28) on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 7:00 PM (ET).
