Atlanta Hawks living legend Dominique Wilkins won the Sears Shooting Stars Challenge for Team Bosh and the East by sinking the final shot of the competition from half court.
Wilkins had hit the half court shot in the first round to advance to the championship round and then hit the half court shot again in the finals to capture the trophy.
With Wilkins on Team Bosh was Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh (obviously), and Swin Cash of the WNBA Chicago Sky. They finished with a winning time of one minute and 29 seconds to beat Team Westbrook — comprised of Oklahoma City Thuder guard Russell Westbrook, 7-time NBA Champion “Big Shot” Robert Horry and WBNA superstar Maya Moore of the Minnesota Lynx.
Team Bosh got passed fellow Eastern Conference squad Team Lopez — featuring Brook Lopez of the Brooklyn Nets, Space Jam star Muggsy Bogues and Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings — in the first round by hitting all six shots in 50 seconds, while it took Team Lopez a laughable 67 seconds.
Team Westbrook edged out Team Harden — which featured Houston Rockets main man James Harden, 2-time NBA Champ Sam Cassell and Tina Thompson of the Seattle Storm — by roughly nine seconds in the first round and had the ball in their court as they went into the championship round with the best overall time in the challenge.
In the final round, Team Westbrook had the luxury of going second after watching Team Bosh struggle and take 1:29 to complete the course. Team Westbrook seemingly had the trophy in-hand as they knocked down the first five shots in less than 21 seconds. However, they choked on the sixth and final shot from half court and couldn’t hit before the 1:29 mark, sealing the triumph for ‘Nique and Team Bosh.
