Al Horford Surpasses 5,000 Points

Despite taking a loss in Los Angeles on Sunday, some good came out of the trip to Staples Center. With a 24-point performance against the Lakers, Al Horford reached 5,000 points in his NBA career — all with the Atlanta Hawks.

Although he got snubbed for the Eastern Conference Player of the Week Award for Monta Ellis, there’s no doubting Horford’s been on an impressive tear the last 10 games.

Since February 11, against the Dallas Mavericks, Al has averaged 24 points on 64.3% shooting, with 11 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.9 blocks and 1.7 steals. He has even hit 3-of-4 attempts from three-point land, making his fourth, fifth and sixth three-pointers of his career. If he continues this pace, he may just find himself on his first ever All-NBA team.
