Every “expert”, “analyst” and “insider” had the Atlanta Hawks trading Josh Smith last month. When that didn’t happen they all said there’s no chance of the team re-signing him in the off-season.
Yeah, so much for that.
Not only are the Hawks interested in bringing Smith back, they’re making it known he’s the “first priority” on the team’s To Do list, according to Sam Amico of Fox Sports.
Amico added that along with Smith atop Atlanta”s wish list is sharp-shooting Kyle Korver. However, if keeping both is too expensive, the Hawks would likely seek a sign-and-trade for one or both of the players. Smith and Korver are unrestricted free agents.
Korver is the fourth active leading scorer on the team, averaging 11.2 points per game, and leads the NBA in three-point shooting with a .458 percentage from downtown.
Smith is averaging 17.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.9 blocks and 1.2 steals per game.
