It’s all about the deep ball in the first half.
The Atlanta Hawks made seven 3-pointers in the first two quarters led by Kyle Korver who has three of them as they lead the Indiana Pacers 57-40 at halftime of Game 4.
Josh Smith scored 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting with six rebounds in 21 minutes, while Korver chipped in with 11. Jeff Teague has eight points and three assists.
Roy Hibbert leads the Pacers with 10 points. Paul George continues to struggle when defended by Josh Smith and only has three points on one-of-five shooting.
The Pacers controlled an early lead and went up 21-14 with 2:33 in the first, but Atlanta responded with an 8-0 spurt to end the quarter leading by one. That spurt later erupted into a 22-3 run, spewing over into the second period.
Lance Stephenson’s triple at the 5:56 mark shrunk the lead to eight points. J-Smoove returned the favor with a trey of his own, but D.J. Augustin countered for Indiana with another 3 on the following possession.
The Hawks then closed out the half on a 13-4 run and lead 57-40 at the break.
Atlanta is surprisingly outrebounding Indiana by a 25-18 margin.
