Pack your bags, Hawks fans — we’re going to London!

The Atlanta Hawks will host a “home” game against the Brooklyn Nets on January 16, 2014 in Big Ben’s country as part of NBA Global Games London 2014, the NBA announced yesterday.

NBA Global Games London 2014 will be the 12th game in the city dating back to 1993. Atlanta took part in the NBA’s first preseason games in London playing two games against the Orlando Magic (October 30 and 31, 1993). In July, 1988, Atlanta played internationally for the first time when the Hawks traveled to the former Soviet Union for three contests against the Soviet National Team.

This will be the Hawks’ first-ever regular-season matchup outside of North America.

“Playing in London will be a special experience for our players and coaches, and we are proud to represent Atlanta in front of an international audience,” said Hawks’ President of Basketball Operations/General Manager Danny Ferry.

The game will be broadcast globally on television and through digital media.

Details will be released at a later date.
