The Atlanta Hawks have signed first-round draft pick Dennis Schroder, President of Basketball Operations/General Manager Danny Ferry announced Wednesday, according to the team’s official news release.
Schröder confirmed the report as he took to Twitter to announce the signing:
Terms of the agreement weren’t announced, per team policy.
The Hawks selected Schroder with the 17th overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft.
The 6’1” point guard played professionally in Germany since 2009. Schröder, 19, has played four years of Euro ball, most recently suiting up for the New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig in the Beko League (Germany’s top league).
Schroder avergaed 11.9 points, 3.3 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 24.7 minutes per game through 31 contests last season, while shooting 42.4% from the field, 40.2% from the 3-point arc and 83.8% from the free-throw line.
