The 2013-2014 Atlanta Hawks team is a bit of an enigma. Unlike many teams, they are racing neither for the top nor for the bottom. Rather, they are waiting. Waiting for the right free agent to hit the market or for a coveted draft pick to fall into their laps.
They have a talented roster, as broken down by our own Wesley Morton, but many analysts do not consider them a playoff team. Many believe the Hawks will be one of the first teams eliminated, putting them in the dreaded ‘dead-zone’ of the league: too good to score a pick inside the top-8 and not good enough to make a deep run in the playoffs. However, I posit that the latter of those two options actually has a decent chance of coming to fruition.
