Basketball SuperCup 2013: Pero Antic Scores Game-Winner Against Greece

Offseason pickup Pero Antic is already making Atlanta Hawks fans happy by seeing him power his native Macedonia team to a huge upset victory over Greece in the first round of Basketball SuperCup 2013 in Germany on Friday.

Pero posted a double-double performance, scoring 16 points and adding 10 rebounds as the Macedonians defeated the Greeks 77-75 in the SuperCup’s opening game.

Trailing by one late in the game, Antic went hard through the lane, got fouled, and hit the game-winning three-point play with 10.2 seconds left to lift Macedonia to victory. He made the basket, then sank a free-throw to complete the scoring play. The game-winning and-1 play were his only three points in the second half after he led the team with 13 points in the first half.

Antic will make his NBA debut with the Hawks this season after being signed in the summer. He will be the first-ever Macedonian-born player to make it to the NBA.
