Atlanta Hawks Rewind: Hawks beat Lakers, Jones KO’s Kobe

Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports

Back in March, the Hawks were fighting for playoff positioning when LA came to town. I was in the building for this one, and the Hawks played a great team game. Ultimately the game will be remembered for the final play when Kobe Bryant went up for a game-tying shot, and Dahntay Jones slid under Bryant causing him to sprain his ankle. It was a foul, but it wasn’t called, and nonetheless the Hawks won 96-92. Big Al finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds, Devin Harris had 17 points and 7 assists, and Kyle Korver had 15 points in Dwight Howard’s only visit to Atlanta as a Laker.
