ATLANTA — Kyle Korver joined the rest of the team during the media day festivities, and he was in great spirits. After signing a 4-year deal worth $24 million, Kyle was excited to be part of the new regime. After reports of signing with the Nets, he addressed free agency as well. “It’s what we wanted to happen. Free agency [is something] you only get to go through it a couple of times in your career, so you get the opportunity to see what’s out there. At the end of day, just in both me and my wife’s gut, we just feel like we’re supposed to be back in Atlanta,” Korver said on Monday.
A lot of the players addressed the job that Danny Ferry has done, and Korver was no exception, “Starting with Danny and coach Bud, they’re going to build something good here. They’re going to build an organization that the community can be proud of, that fans want to watch, a style of game that fans want to watch, and we’re going to be good,” Korver added, “If you play the game the right way, wins just happen, and to be a part of the building process of that; last year going to this year, and the next couple of years, it makes it bigger than just basketball to me.”
“Oh yeah, I’m not into predictions and all that stuff, but we’re going to play good basketball, and if we stay healthy, we have talented players. I think we have more talent than people realize on this team. We definitely lost some pieces from last year that we have learn how to play again, but we have some pretty good talent here, we really do,” Korver said in reference to making the playoffs, “We have pieces that fit well together, and I think when it’s all said and done chemistry is going to be one of our strengths. Playing the right way, playing unselfish basketball is going to get us far.”
When it comes to coach Budenholzer’s system, all of the players spoke about how it will put them in a position to succeed. “We’re going to execute sets, there’s going to be floor spacing, that means there’s going to be a game plan in place of how we guard the pick and roll, of how we’re going to guard isolations, and we’re going to stick to that game plan and do it well,” Korver proclaimed, “It’s going to be a whole new kind of basketball you’re going to see here. If you’re a basketball purist, you are going to like watching us play.”
