Atlanta Hawks all-star center Al Horford will miss today’s preseason finale in Dallas with a sore hamstring, according to Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Horford tweaked his hamstring during yesterday’s home exhibition finale in Atlanta against the Pacers. He had 12 points and seven rebounds in 29 minutes of action before getting subbed out for Pero Antic with 4:57 remaining.
Viv reported “Horford is experiencing a lingering hamstring problem and will remain in Atlanta for treatment.”
Through five exhibition games, Horford averaged 12.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocks in 28 minutes per contest.
Horford started at power forward last night with Paul Millsap sidelined for the final two preseason games with a sore Achilles, while Elton Brand started at center.
With both Horford and Millsap missing tonight, the Hawks could start a frontcourt featuring Brand at center for the second straight game and Mike Scott at power forward. The only other healthy big men on the roster are Antic (a 31-year-old rookie) and Eric Dawson (a training camp invite who has not played in the last four preseason games).
The Hawks have exactly a week between tonight’s preseason finale and the regular-season opener, both in Dallas.
