Fresh off their visit to local area football games, the Atlanta Hawks players and staff will be available to fans again this Saturday!
In spirit of the league wide NBA Cares Week, the Atlanta Hawks will be holding a free basketball clinic for 60 lucky kids between the ages of 9-13. The clinic will take place at Wade Walker Park Family YMCA in Stone Mountain.
The kids and their families will get the opportunity to meet many of the new faces that have joined the Hawks organization this summer and partake in drills that may improve the participants knowledge of the game of basketball. Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena President Bob Williams had this to say on the event:
“We recognize and take great pride in the impact that Atlanta Hawks basketball makes both on and off the court. Opportunities to directly connect with our fans in the city we call home, especially with partners like the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, are ones we value and embrace.”
The partnership with the YMCA of Metro Atlanta will also be a multi-year relationship in which the Atlanta Hawks will help support the basketball programs at 16 local area YMCA branches. All participants in these programs will receive a complementary Hawks jersey and one ticket to a Hawks game during the upcoming season.
Atlanta wrapped up their preseason in Dallas last night and final cuts are sure to come in the next couple of days.
The Hawks’ 2013-14 season starts on Wednesday, October 30th, where they will again face the Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines Center at 8:30 p.m. (ET).
