Dennis Schroder and John Jenkins are only two games into their stint with the Bakersfield Jam, but it seems like they are settling in nicely in California.
The two players were assigned to Bakersfield last week and both helped lead the Jam to their second straight victory over the Los Angeles D-Fenders with a 110-108 victory on Saturday. Bakersfield had beaten the D-Fenders 104-100 the night before.
Saturday’s game came down to the very last possession as Brian Butch hit the game-winning shot for the Jam with a layup in the final seconds.
Schroder lead the way with 21 points for Bakersfield on 7-of-11 shooting. While his scoring was a nice sign, his assist to turnover ratio may still be a worry going forward. He managed just three assists while turning the ball over four times.
As for Jenkins, he followed up a strong debut with a double-double performance of 20 points and 11 rebounds. He shot 40% from the field and 33% from deep. He also tallied six assists with only three turnovers.
James Nunnally, Brian Butch and Mac Koshwal made up the rest of the starting lineup for Bakersfield. Butch provided another double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Koshwal and Nunnally combined for 31 points as well. Damion James once again provided a spark of the bench with 11 points, six rebounds and three steals in 30 minutes of action.
Los Angeles Lakers assignee Ryan Kelly lead the D-Fenders with 30 points on 10-of-24 shooting from the field.
The consecutive wins over the D-Fenders brings the Jam to 3-4 so far this season.
Bakersfield will face the Santa Cruz Warriors this week on Tuesday and Thursday night. Both games will tip-off at 10:00 p.m. (ET) and will be streamed live on YouTube.
