Atlanta Hawks 2013 first-round draft pick Lucas Nogueira has battled through a few lower body injuries already in his short time playing in the Spanish ACB League this season, and now we know why.
According to a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Nogueira’s agent, Aylton Tesch, said Lucas has been diagnosed with severe tendonitis and is expected to be out of action for around two months. Tesch added that Nogueira will not seek medical opinions from Hawks team doctors.
Nogueira suspended his Spanish league contract last week in order to seek outside medical advice after appearing in only six games for Estudiantes.
The 7 foot Brazilian, who appeared in Summer League games for the Hawks this past offseason, figures to be an important piece in the Hawks’ future plans. As a member of the Estudiantes, is averaging just 5.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in 17.5 minutes of play a game.
“Bebe” Nogueira was last seen in Los Angeles getting attention for his ailing knees, and according to his agent, he’ll remain there for rest and further evaluation. Presumably once he his declared fit to play, he will reactivate his contract and continue to play in the Spanish League. We can only hope his recovery goes smoothly and without event.
