Anyone waiting for a miraculous return by Al Horford in the playoffs like he did two seasons ago can probably put those hopes to rest. David Aldridge of TNT got a text from Horford after going down with a season-ending torn right pectoral muscle.
Just got a brief text from Al Horford, who says he’s “probably not” going to be back for the playoffs this year. That truly stinks.

Horford was leading the Hawks with over 18 points per game and 8 rebounds a game. He had also cemented himself as the main paint protector with a career best 1.5 blocks per game. The Hawks will have to make do without their focal point, meaning increased minutes for Elton Brand, Mike Scott, Gustavo Ayon and Pero Antic now through the playoffs.
