The Detroit Pistons versus Hawks game that was scheduled for Wednesday night but got postponed due to severe weather conditions in the Atlanta area has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 8.
The NBA league office decided to call of the game Wednesday afternoon after a mixture of snow and ice made travel too dangerous in Atlanta.
The Pistons weren’t even able to make their flight to Atlanta on Tuesday night from Detroit.
Per the Detroit Free Press:
The Pistons never left the Detroit area after their victory over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
NBA rules stipulate that all road teams must be in the city their playing in one night prior to the game being played.
For the Pistons, the rescheduled game on April 8 now becomes the first game of a back-to-back set on the road. After they get done in Atlanta on Tuesday, they’ll have to fly out to Cleveland to play the Cavaliers on Wednesday.
For the Hawks, the rescheduled game for now becomes the first game of a back-to-back set at home. After the game against the Pistons on Tuesday, the Hawks will host bitter rival Boston Celtics on Wednesday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
