No official word from the Hawks or Clippers yet, but stay tuned to Soaring Down South for the latest. The Hawks likely received something for helping the Clippers out in the financial department.
3:20 PM: The Hawks had been quiet when it came to the trade deadline, and just when you thought they would stay put, they made a deal at the 3 PM buzzer. According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Hawks have reached an agreement to trade for 37 year old Antwan Jamison of the Los Angeles Clippers.
The details of the acquisition have yet to be released, but GM Danny Ferry will meet with the media sometime in the next hour to address the move. For the Clippers, this is purely a tax relief move, and it is strictly about saving money. They will save about $2 million with the move. For the Hawks, it is unclear what the motive is here, but having more bodies to throw out there can’t hurt. They have dealt with a myriad of injuries, and at some point, there has to be enough guys suit up if they want to stay competitive.
The report also indicates that the Hawks will use their disabled player exception they got after Al Horford went down. Jamison is averaging 3.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 11 minutes per game this season. If you’re thinking he can stretch the floor, Jamison is shooting 19 percent from beyond the arc this season, so change your theory.
We will update you with the details as they are released.
