Atlanta Hawks veteran center Elton Brand has passed Hall-of-Famer Elvin Hayes for 25th on the NBA’s all-time blocks list with a rejection against the Golden State Warriors on Friday.
Brand, who is in his 15th NBA season, tied the Hall-of-Famer Hayes on Sunday with two swats against the Phoenix Suns to reach 25th on the all-time list at 1,771 career blocks. With his rejection against the Warriors last night, he is now in sole possession of 25th place with 1,772 career blocks.
Aside from the milestone block, Brand had a solid game for the Hawks last night, albeit in a loss at Golden State, finishing with nine points, six rebounds, and three assists in 25 minutes of action.
Brand is Atlanta’s fourth-string center behind Al Horford, Pero Antic and Gustavo Ayon. However, with Horford and Ayon out with season-ending surgeries and Antic recently returning from nursing a stress fracture in his right ankle for the past four weeks, Brand has been the main center and has been relied upon like no one could have projected.
Brand has appeared in 52 games (11 starts), averaging 5.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 18.4 minutes per game through his first season with the Hawks.
