Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague missed shootaround earlier today in Utah but will start tonight against the Jazz, according to Hawks beat writer Chris Vivlamore of the AJC.
Just before 3:00 p.m., Vivlamore reported Teague arrived at the team’s shootaround in street clothes. Minutes later Viv gave an update on the situation:
It turns out the issue with Teague’s ear was that he had wax buildup and needed it removed by a doctor.
Supposedly this problem goes back a couple of days and the 25-year-old floor general was unable to hear out of his left ear Wednesday night against the Clippers, which could be an explanation for his subpar game in which he shot 3-of-9 from the field and was the only Atlanta starter not in double-figures, finishing with nine points.
“I couldn’t hear anything out of my left ear, at all,” Teague said. “It hit me they day before we played Golden State. In L.A. I couldn’t hear anything. On the plane [leaving Los Angeles], it went crazy.”
Thankfully, this issue has been taken care of and Teague will be in the starting lineup tonight as the Hawks look for their first win in the finale of their nightmarish five-game West Coast road trip.
