There was a bright spot in Atlanta’s 101-97 loss at Washington on Saturday as Hawks interim center Pero Antic grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds.
He actually matched his career-high in rebounds, as he pulled down 12 boards back on Jan. 22 at Orlando.
This is the fourth time this season Antic has posted double-digit rebounding totals. The 31-year-old rookie has pulled down 10 rebounds twice in the past two weeks.
Antic has been an unlikely important player this season, as he has had to fill in as the new starting center after All-Star center Al Horford suffered a season-ending pectoral injury in late December.
Antic is averaging 7.1 points and 4.2 rebound per game, and has the fourth-highest total of made 3-pointers by a rookie in franchise history.
