NBA Playoffs 2014: Pacers C Andrew Bynum OUT for First-Round vs. Hawks

The top-seeded Indiana Pacers will be without Andrew Bynum for the first-round of the playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks.

Pacers head coach Frank Vogel made the announcement on Thursday, declaring Bynum out for the opening series versus the 8th-seeded Hawks.

Although, Vogel added there is “still a chance (he plays in the playoffs),” depending on how deep of a postseason run the team makes.

Indiana signed the former two-time NBA champion in February with the hope that he would add depth behind All-Star center Roy Hibbert. However, he only played two games for the Pacers and hasn’t played since March 15 because of knee problems.

Game 1 of the first-round series against Atlanta begins Saturday night at Indiana.
