While the world patiently awaits a decision from LeBron James, the rest of the free agent class is quiet.
While all teams await the big dominoes to fall like LeBron and Carmelo Anthony, there are “Plan B” guys who refuse to sign until every team knows what they want to do with their cap space.
The Atlanta Hawks have been linked to some of those “Plan B” guys like Luol Deng, Pau Gasol, Greg Monroe, and Kent Bazemore. Well, according to a report from ESPN’s Chris Broussard, Atlanta has entered their name in the Trevor Ariza sweepstakes:
Houston weighing whether to match Parsons or go for Ariza at lower price. Wash, ATL, LAL, LAC, CHI also interested in Ariza

Ariza is considered one of the best small forwards on the market after LeBron and Carmelo, so he will not come cheap. According to a previous report from Ken Berger of CBS Sports, the free agent is seeking a hefty pay grade:
The Mavs, Cavs, Lakers and Heat are pursuing Wizards free agent Trevor Ariza, league sources say. Ariza seeking deal starting at $9-$11m.

Ariza averaged a little over 14 points and six rebounds per game for the Washington Wizards last season, all while shooting over 40 percent from three-point range. He is also a nice defensive player, and he performed well in his contract year.
That price may prove to be too big for Atlanta, but their interest in him only confirms the idea that they are looking to add some real firepower on the wing. Once the big shoes drop, expect the Hawks to go all out to sign Ariza, Deng, Monroe, Bazemore, or another name on the market.
Stay tuned as more details develop over the coming days.
