Kyle Korver Among 16 Finalists Selected for Team USA Roster

After the sad news that Atlanta Hawks power forward Paul Millsap was cut from Team USA yesterday, we are proud to report the great news that Kyle Korver has been selected as one of the 16 finalists for the 2014 USA Basketball Men’s World Cup Team roster.

The other 15 finalists are Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, James Harden, Stephen Curry, Derrick Rose, Andre Drummond, Mason Plumell, DeMar DeRozan, Kenneth Faried, DeMarcus Cousins, Gordon Hayward, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard and Chandler Parsons.

“We had an excellent training camp in Las Vegas and each player gave a great effort and deserves recognition and thanks for his commitment and hard work,” said USA Basketball Director Jerry Colangelo. “We’ve said all along that we would be proud to have any of the players who were in Las Vegas represent USA Basketball and the United States. This phase of the selection process was extremely difficult and very thorough, and it’s worth again mentioning that we are looking to select the best team, which are not necessarily the best players. We’re pleased with where we are at this point of our training and we’re looking forward to getting back on the court and continuing our preparations to represent the United States at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup,” said Colangelo.

Team USA returns to action on Aug. 14 in Chicago. They will spend two days training and then will play Brazil in an exhibition game on Aug. 16 at the United Center.

Another round of cuts will be made after Team USA wraps up in the Windy City.

The team will then reconvene in New York City from Aug. 18 – 22 for a couple days of training followed by exhibition games against the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

There will likely be a final round of cuts made after Team USA leaves The Big Apple, before they depart for Spain.
