Concluding our ongoing series of Atlanta Hawks offseason grades is this piece detailing the 4 best moves the team made during the 2019 offseason.

The 2019 offseason was one of great importance to the Atlanta Hawks. After they landed three key building blocks in back-to-back drafts in 2017 and 2018 with John Collins in 2017 and Trae Young and Kevin Huerter in 2018, the team was in a rock-solid position in terms of growth for what might be a transitional season in 2019-20.

While the Hawks were not given particularly inspiring playoff odds from ESPN or BBall Index, the team’s young core is one of the most promising in the NBA and it only got better with the inclusion of De’Andre Hunter, Cam Reddish and Bruno Fernando in the 2019 NBA draft.

Beyond that, multiple trades, signings, re-signings and waivers took place throughout the offseason – all of which make up the tapestry upon which the Hawks roster will paint their success (or failures) in the 2019-20 campaign.

Of course, the architect of all of these moves was Atlanta Hawks General Manager Travis Schlenk, who was extremely proactive this offseason in order to create the roster he wanted around Collins, Young and Huerter.

Let’s kick off the list of best moves of the 2019 offseason with a strong choice in the 2019 NBA Draft.
