About Bo Churney:
Hi! Thanks for visiting SoaringDownSouth.com and thanks for checking out my “About Me” page!
For starters, my name is Bo Churney and I currently live in the wonderful city of Atlanta, where I have spent most of my years. I am 19 years old (yeah, I’m young) and an International Affairs student at Georgia Tech (Go Jackets!). Obviously, I’m also a huge fan of basketball.
In all honestly, my love for basketball starts with everyone’s favorite movie, Space Jam. It may sound silly, but that was what really introduced me to the sport in a way that only Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes could accomplish. However, basketball really wasn’t a passion until I saw hometown-hero Josh Smith tear up the 2005 Slam Dunk Contest. That built up to the Hawks’ 2008 playoff run and I haven’t taken my eyes off since.
How did I get here? Well, I had my own blog for a while, but that never really got anywhere and was sparse on posts. I then spent the next few years occasionally putting my thoughts on Bleacher Report until that site fell out of my liking. Then, after the Hawks lost to the Heat in triple OT on January 5th, I decided to transfer my rage into writing. The result of that was recommended to William, who then offered me the opportunity to write for SDS permanently. So, now I am here and hoping I can help William and the rest of the SDS staff to grow the site.
Also,if you want to yell at me because you think my opinion is outrageous (which is very possible), or if you actually like what I say (unlikely), then you can find me on Twitter (@bochurney), or you can contact me through email ([email protected]). Until then, let’s all sit back and enjoy some basketball.
