It only took 16 days on the job for new President of Basketball Operations/GM, Danny Ferry to give the Atlanta Hawks a total roster overhaul. On a team that already looks dramatically different from just a month ago, two core pieces remain: Josh Smith and Al Horford.

Hawks fans knew this summer would be a wild ride for the organization, with 67 percent of last years team gone, a new head honcho at the helm, and a new outlook of the future, how could it not be?

Lets take a look at the Hawks’ player movement to date:

Departures:

Jason Collins, Erick Dampier, Willie Green, Kirk Hinrich, Joe Johnson, Tracy McGrady, Jannero Pargo, Vladimir Radmanovic, Jerry Stackhouse, Marvin Williams

Arrivals:

Devin Harris, John Jenkins, Anthony Morrow, Johan Petro, Mike Scott, DeShawn Stevenson, Jordan Williams, Lou Williams

Former Atlanta Hawks combo guard Kirk Hinrich has verbally agreed to a two-year contract with the Chicago Bulls, according to multiple league sources.

The Chicago Tribune reported the news Sunday, and said the contract is worth “roughly $6 million” for both seasons.

Arriving in Atlanta just last season, Hinrich started 31-of-48 games he played in and initially served as a role player for the Hawks who would come off the bench and provide relief for Jeff Teague and Joe Johnson. His role expanded towards the middle of the season and definitely at the end of the year when Johnson shifted to the small forward position — because of Marvin Williams’ inability to play at a high level consistently — and Hinrich was slotted as the staring 2 guard. He was a reliable and solid player for Atlanta last season, averaging seven points and three assists in 26 minutes of action per game while always seemingly having to defend the opposition’s best guard.

Hinrich was the seventh overall selection in the 2003 NBA Draft and played his first seven seasons for the Chicago Bulls before being traded on draft night of 2010 to the Washington Wizards. The Bulls dealt Hinrich to Washington just to clear up some cap space in hopes of signing the prized “Big 3″, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, in free agency — but that of course didn’t happen. From then on out, Chicago was forced to lean on below-average guards (with the exception of Derek Rose), and replacement players who could never really match Hinrich’s skills on both sides of the ball. After arriving in Atlanta as a free agent in the summer of 2011 and spending last season with the Hawks, the prodigal son is returning to Chi Town.
