Mavericks vs Hawks: Game Thread – Kyle Korver to miss second straight game; Lou Williams to start at SG
By David Menze
Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague (0) gets by Dallas Mavericks guard Monta Ellis, left, on a drive to the basket in the first half of an NBA basketball game, Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, in Dallas.
Game Preview
The Hawks look to rebound at home in Atlanta tonight versus the Dallas Mavericks after getting blown out on Wednesday by the Rockets on the road in Houston.
The Hawks will be short-handed once again as sharpshooter Kyle Korver will miss his second straight game due to a rib contusion, but the offense shouldn’t suffer that much as combo guard Lou Williams will get the start at shooting guard.
Korver missed Wednesday’s game in Houston whilst in the midst of setting NBA history — he’s made a 3-pointer in 88 straight regular-season games and was on pace to tie the record on Wednesday and set a new NBA record tonight with 90 consecutive games with a made 3-pointer. However, the streak is on pause while Korver is sidelined; former Celtics player Dana Barros holds the record at 89.
Tonight’s matchup with the Mavericks is the second-and-final meeting of the season against the Hawks. The clubs opened the season in Dallas with the Mavs winning 118-109. Monta Ellis led Dallas with 32 points, while Jeff Teague led Atlanta with 24 points and nine assists.
Hopefully the home team wins again, this time being Atlanta.
