2. Kevin Love is the only forward in this year’s field. Would you like to see more forwards in the contest and why or why not?

Menze: No. Kevin Love is of a different breed, cut from the Larry Bird cloth. It’s extremely rare to see a 6’10” guy stroke it the way K-Love does. He’s not on the Larry Bird level — no one is — but his height and shooting ability certainly resembles that of The Hick from French Lick. Dirk Nowitzki is a close comparison. There are a few other European big man besides Dirk who can shoot the long ball like the Knicks’ Andrea Bargnani and the Hawks’ Pero Antic, but I’d much rather see shooting guards like Kyle Korver and Klay Thompson in the 3-point contest.

Donoho: Yes. The NBA is starting to shift towards a European style of play where the big guys can go out and shoot from beyond the arc. Guys like Chris Bosh, Serge Ibaka, Ryan Anderson, and Paul Millsap have shown that they have some range. Why not showcase that to the world?

Morton: I think it’s great. Hawks fans have seen Paul Millsap display his range from deep and the havoc it wreaks on unaware defenses. I’d even go as far to say it would be fun to make it a point to have half of the field forwards or centers just for kicks.

Perry: I’m indifferent. I want to see the best overall players competing, and whether or not they happen to be forwards doesn’t matter much to me. I think Ryan Anderson would’ve been a great addition if he were healthy, but I cant think of any other forwards who would have been worthy additions to the field (besides Kevin Durant, of course).

Blue: It seems like we see at least one forward in the contest every year. Seeing big men, especially, going out there and compete is fun, but since players that are capable of competing are fewer in comparison to guards, its ok to only see one or two.

Coverage of tonight’s festivities will be televised on TNT starting at 8 p.m. (ET) with the Three-Point Contest going down as the third event following the Skills Challenge and before the Slam Dunk Contest. Click here for the Three-Point Contest participants.
