NBA All-Star Weekend 2014: Skills Challenge 5-on-5

4 of 6

3. Of the four rookies participating in the event (Burke, Antetokounmpo, Carter-Williams, Oladipo) who do you think will leave viewers most impressed?

Menze: Michael Carter-Williams. This event is usually won by a pure point guard, the player who best acts a facilitator and floor general rather than a score-first point guard such as Trey Burke. The way to leave the viewers most impressed is by going through the obstacle course with poise and coming out unscathed. Ultimately, it’s the passing drills that decide the outcome. MCW is the best distributor among the rookies and his crisp passes should leave the viewers the most impressed.

Donoho: I’d say Giannas Antetokuonmpo.  He is 6’10, but he can handle the ball pretty well and is fun to watch. There’s a reason he has the word freak in his nickname.

Morton: I think it has to be Giannis Antetokounmpo. As a 6’9” player with point guard handles, his name will soon be known in NBA households, even if they can’t spell it.

Perry: Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Greek Freak is 6’9 and can handle the rock like nobody’s business, so I say he leaves viewers most impressed. He’s also the least publicized player of the four rookies, so this will be the first time many people get to watch him play.

Blue: Michael Carter-Williams has been surprising fans since his first game in the NBA. Taller point guards are always a bit more interesting to watch and Carter-Williams is athletic enough for his size to bring a show during the challenge.

Coverage of tonight’s festivities will be televised on TNT starting at 8 p.m. (ET) with the Skills Challenge going down as the second event following the Shooting Stars Challenge. Click here for the Skills Challenge rosters.
